Police Raising Funds in Movember
Posted on 11/07/2019
MovemberIn 2018, Crystal Police Officer Timothy Tourville approached his department’s administration regarding growing beards in support of Movember. The Movember Foundation seeks to save and improve men’s lives through projects focused on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

At the time, the department grooming standards only allowed mustaches, not beards, but an agreement was struck to allow beards for Movember. In 2018, the Crystal Police Department raised $1,390 and regular grooming standards resumed on Dec. 1.

Numerous Crystal Police Officers are repeating their effort for 2019, as suicide, mental health and cancer research and prevention are important topics and issues that affect everyone. Participating officers donated $20 to the Crystal Crime Prevention Board to kick off the event, and they began growing beards.

Those interested can follow the Crystal Police Department Team’s progress, post support and make donations to the Movember cause at The team site includes photos and updates on their progress and information about men’s health issues and stories.
